V.O.D. III

I Cor. 3:9: For we are laborers together with God: ye are God ’s husbandry, ye are God ’s building.

This verse transitions from one metaphor to another. The preceding metaphor was that we are the sowers and reapers, but God gives the increase. The next is that we are building our works on the foundation of Jesus Christ whether our works be gold or stubble. In the end, whether we sow or reap or build a mansion of gold, so to speak, God receives the glory. Even if, in the end, all our works are worthless and burned up, so to speak, God receives the glory for His great mercy.

I Corinthians 2:4, 5:  And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man ’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Ever been in a service listening to a preacher that was dull and boring in his delivery, but delivered such a powerful message because he lived it? I think that’s what Paul was getting at here.
What happens when a beautiful gift is delivered in an amazing, handcrafted box? You can’t decide which is better, the gift or the package it came in, so you keep both. Sometimes, God delivers the most precious gifts in the most unassuming packages so we will marvel, not at the temporary wrapping, but at His everlasting Love.

Please feel free to add your thoughts.

Verse of the Day: I Corinthians 1:27: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

I love this verse. Every time I read it, I think how the extreme complexity of nature still perplexes scientists and scholars who hold to the theory of evolution. And, in a fight, who would win, Magnus Samuelsson or the flu virus.
